Frequently Asked Questions

De-chroming (also known as a Chrome Delete) is the process of covering a vehicle’s reflective chrome trim with a high-quality vinyl wrap. This is typically done in gloss, satin, or matte black to create a more modern, stealthy aesthetic. At Amigo Customs, we can de-chrome various areas including window surrounds, grilles, door handles, and badges to completely transform your car’s look

While the concept sounds simple, professional de-chroming is a meticulous process. Chrome trims are often thin, curved, and located in tight gaps (like window seals), making them difficult to wrap without specialized tools and experience. At Amigo Customs, our technicians have over a decade of experience, ensuring the vinyl is tucked and finished perfectly so that no chrome peeks through and the wrap doesn’t lift over time.

The cost of a chrome delete depends entirely on the specific make and model of your vehicle and which parts you want to cover.

Because every car has a different amount of trim, from simple window surrounds to complex mesh grilles, we provide bespoke pricing for every project. Get in touch for an instant quote today.

When installed by professionals using premium materials like 3M or Avery Dennison, a chrome delete typically lasts between 3 to 5 years. At Amigo Customs, we provide a 12-month warranty on our installation and materials, giving you peace of mind that your new stealth look is built to withstand the elements.

Yes, you can still wash your car, but we recommend waiting at least 72 hours after installation to allow the adhesive to fully bond. For the best longevity, we advise hand washing with a pH-neutral shampoo. If using a pressure washer, keep the nozzle at least 30cm away from the edges of the wrap and avoid aiming it directly at the seams to prevent any lifting.
